Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS fails to issue any message when *
    * an event is successfully issued *
    * following an earlier failure. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    CICS correctly issues messages DFHEC1022, DFHEC1023 or DFHEC1024
    if an event is discarded due to
     - an unavailable EPADAPTER
     - a transactional adapter configured for a system event
     - a synchronous adapter configured for a system event
    However if the user then corrects the error, the only way to
    determine if their update to the adapter was successful is
    to check if the event was emmitted to the EP adapter.
    This makes it difficult for the user to distinguish between
    the situation where the adapter is correct but no event has
    been captured, or where there is still an error in the adapter
    definition.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHECEC and DFHECSC have been altered to issue a new message,
    DFHEC1032, when an event is successfully emmitted following
    a previous failure as follows:
    "DFHEC1032 date time applid Event emission for EVENTBINDING
    evbname has been successful after a previous failure to emit an
    event through {EPADAPTER|EPADAPTERSET} name."

    DFHMPAC has been altered to issue a new message, DFHMP3006,
    when an event is successfully emmitted following a previous
    failure, as follows:
    "DFHMP3006 date time applid Event emission has been successful
    after a previous failure to emit an event through
    {EPADAPTER|EPADAPTERSET} name. BundleId=bundleid,
    BundleName=bundlename, PolicyName=policyname,
    RuleName=rulename."

    In addition, DFHECDUF has been altered to format out the
    ECAF (Failed EP adapter in EP adapter set) control block
    to aid diagnosis of a failed event emmission.

    The CICS TS 5.1 infocentre will be updated to add the new
    messages.
