Error description

• A java.net.MalformedURLException is observed when accessing
  URLs from an application installed on Liberty Profile server.
  This will only be observed when there are more than one
  application type installed, such as OSGI and J2EE.

  When more than one application container is active the
  Liberty Profile server applies security checks to the use of
  protocol handlers. These handlers are used to process URLs.
  To determine if a caller application can access a protocol
  handler a check is made on the origin of the classloader.
  Protocol handlers registered with the root bundle need to be
  available regardless of requestor.
  

Problem conclusion

• This problem originates in the equinox framework used by the
  Liberty Profile server. An update to the equinox framework has
  been integrated to resolve this issue.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
