PM78244: CICS TG fails to shut down after an IPIC connection has been closed.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While a heavy IPIC workload was being run, an IPIC connection
  was closed. CICS TG would not shut down.
  
  A core dump was taken while CICS TG was unresponsive and this
  showed a "Deadlock detected" message and the deadlocked threads
  were performing IPIC work.

  When an IPIC connection is stopped, CICS TG threads could
  become deadlocked.  This prevents the Gateway daemon shutting
  down.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS TG has been changed to prevent the reported deadlock.
