APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • WSim encrypts passwords to ensure they are not displayed in
either the script or log files. Currently if a customers system
requires passwords to be regularly changed then the only option
a customer has is to run IDC and capture the new password at
    logon time.

Local fix

  • Run IDC and capture the new password at logon time.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
WSim lacks an ecryption utility which would allow a user to
supply an old password and a new password and have their STL's
    automatically updated.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • This fix adds an option 10 to the WSim test manager Utility
option. This option will ask a user to supply an old encrypted
password and a new unencrypted password and if both are supplied
it will encrypt the new password and replace the old encrypted
    password with the new one.

If only a new password is supplied then this utility will
display the new encrypted password which a user can cut and
paste into those STL's and/or MSGTXTs that need to be changed.
