Error description

  • After issuing a query that times out on the client side,
    user observes that the connection stays open on the server side
    until the Classic Federation started task is restarted.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a user is connected to a Classic   *
    *                      server through a client application     *
    *                      such as Classic Data Architect, and a   *
    *                      network outage occurs or the client     *
    *                      times out, the userid is not            *
    *                      disconnected on the server side.  The   *
    *                      the DISPLAY,USERS output still shows    *
    *                      the userid as connected, and the        *
    *                      server must be restarted in order to    *
    *                      clear the users.                        *

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been modified to detect when a connection has been
    lost and disconnect the users accordingly.  For users
    encountering this fix in V10.1, a PTF is available under APAR
    PM68249.
