Error description

  • When using a compressed dataset, and the CUT command is used,
    an increase in real storage frames is noticed, and message
    IRA200E is received.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All File Manager Users.                      *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. When viewing an SMS compressed data  *
    *                      set and using the CUT command with a C  *
    *                      or CC prefix command, the prefix range  *
    *                      is ignored and File Manager attempts to *
    *                      copy the entire data set to a           *
    *                      dataspace clipboard.                    *
    *                      If the site does not have enough        *
    *                      page space, this may lead to a system   *
    *                      wide virtual storage shortage and       *
    *                      message IRA200E.                        *
    *                      2. File Manager may abends0c4 when      *
    *                      a FIND command which refers to an       *
    *                      array element of a field# (#nn(n))      *
    *                      is entered and suppressed records       *
    *                      are being displayed (SHOW SUP ON) and   *
    *                      the template being used contains more   *
    *                      than one record layout.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    1. File Manager was incorrectly ignoring the Copy prefix command
    when in a non update edit and the CUT command is being used.
    2. File Manager may overwrite storage.
    

Problem conclusion

  • 1. File Manager has been updated in order to correctly honor the
    C or CC prefix commands in a non update edit session, when used
    with the CUT command, allowing for CUT of a single or range of
    records as intended.
    2. File Manager has been modified to correct the problem.
