Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Customers that use Classic Federation to *
    *                 access sequential files.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABEND0C4 can occur when a sequential *
    * file mapping does not match the *
    * definition of the sequential file being *
    *                      accessed.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When accessing a sequential file using Classic Federation, a
    storage buffer is gotten based on the size in the sequential
    file mapping. If the file mapping description does not match the
    actual size of the sequential file, an overlay can occur
    causing an ABEND0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • Code is being updated to compare the length specified in the
    sequential file mapping to the actual sequential file size.
    Error code 0x0057002d will be issued if an error is found,
    which will prevent the ABEND0C4 from occurring.
