Error description

  • Problem description:
    
    During ClearCase installation, there is an option in
    Installation Manager (Customerize Tool Shortcuts: ClearCase
    Explorer ? 'Yes, use this customization file' ? browse to the
    location of the .xml file) to import ClearCase Explorer Tool
    shortcuts.
    But when you open ClearCase Explorer, there are not tool
    shortcuts imported... the file is not imported. You need to
    import the tool shortcuts manually afterwards.
    
    So the option 'Customerize Tool Shortcuts: ClearCase Explorer'
    in Installation Manager should be eisther fixed or removed
    (since it is confusing for the customer).
    
    
    Steps to reproduce:
    
    1. Create a new tool shortcut in ClearCase explorer
    2. Save the customization file as a .xml file
    3. Start Installation Manager to install ClearCase
    4. By the option 'Customerize Tool Shortcuts: ClearCase
    Explorer', select 'Yes, use this customization file', browse to
    the location of the .xml file and click on 'Next'
    5. After installation, open ClearCase Explorer and you see that
    no tool shortcut has been imported.
    
    
    Workaround:
    
    Import the tool shortcuts manually after installation.

    The Panel for importing a shortcut customization file was
    not working correctly, the xml file could be selected but
    the Windows registry was not updted acordingly.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The panel will now trigger the correct update of the
    registry entries needed for importing the supplied
    customization file.
