Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All TWS for zOS Dialog users connected *
    * through Server via TCPIP. *
    *                 FUNCTION=SERV                                *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A Dialog session, TCPIP connected, can *
    *                      stop with messages EQQX602E or EQQX601E *
    * when editing a big JCL in MCP. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY THE PTF FIXING THIS APAR *
    ****************************************************************
    When editing a big (which cannot fit into a 64K buffer) JCL
    from MCP Operations panel (Option 5.3 and "J" command), the
    TCPIP Dialog session with the Server drops with either one of
    these messages:
    EQQX602E 'THE COMMUNICATION WAS UNEXPECTEDLY RESET BY THE PEER'
    or
    EQQX601E ERROR on Connection To Server With ADDRESS and PORT:
    xxx yyy. WriteOnSocket in state Send failed, RC 0012, RS 0140.
    As a consequence the JCL might remain locked to the dialog
    user.
    Any data (big in size), flowing through TCPIP Server connection
    might be affected by this problem.

Problem conclusion

  • In the new released enhanched Server TCPIP code section,
    when the size of the object to be sent over the TCP/IP Server
    connection is over 64K, the new dynamically allocated buffer
    is correctly filled with the remaining part of the data to be
    transferred.
