Error description

  • A map that is executed on z/OS that attempts to insert (or
update) data in a DB2 table, where the data being inserted
contains a NULL for any column could ABEND.

Local fix

Circumvention: Design the insert and update statements so that
NULLs are not sent.

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender customers using DB2 z/OS
adapter and packed fields equal to NULL

Problem Description:
ABEND S0C4 when trying to insert or update data into a DB2 table
on z/OS that contains packed fields that are NULL.

Platforms Affected:
1  z/OS - CICS
2  z/OS Batch 31 bit
3  z/OS Batch 64 Bit
4  z/OS UNIX System Services 31 bit

Problem conclusion

  • Prevent S0C4 by not expanding NULL packed fields.

8.3.0.6, 8.4.0.4
