APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Customers may need to increase the internal TCP/IP buffer sizes
in order to improve network performance on high latency
networks. There is no way to do this on z/OS today without
changing the defaults for the entire TCP/IP stack.
    .
Note: PI10617 will allow 2MB TCP/IP send and receive buffer
sizes to be set for z/OS 2.1 (and above). Activation
instructions must be obtained from the support center.
    .
Note: PI24980 will prevent the service parameter for this APAR
from causing smaller buffers than the defaults defined in
    TCP/IP.
    .
    Additional keywords:
    SETSOCKOPT send receive buffer
    TCP/IP TCPIP channel performance slow
    QREP InfoSphere Replication Server

Local fix

  • Change the default send/receive buffer sizes for the whole
    TCP/IP stack.

    ****************************************************************
Customers who wish to use larger TCP/IP send or receive buffers
must currently do so by changing the stack-wide defaults in
    TCP/IP itself.

This APAR provides a basic switch to allow MQ to use larger
buffers without configuring them at the stack level.
