Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * This problem will affect users installing components from    *
    * the RIT Platform Pack on Windows where they have chosen to   *
    * install those components as Windows services.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Attempting to install components from the RIT Platform Pack  *
    * on Microsoft Windows as Windows services can lead to errors  *
    * being reported towards the end of installation.  The error   *
    * will reference a problem starting or deleting the            *
    * prunsrv.exe executable file.  The problem is more likely to  *
    * occur when upgrading or rolling back an initial installation *
    * but can occasionally occur on initial installation.          *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to release 8.0.1.1 or above.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • This problem and others related to it were fully resolved in
    release 8.0.1.1 of Rational Integration Tester Platform Pack.
    Note that the problem may still occur on the upgrade to 8.0.1.1
    from versions earlier than 8.0.1 but will not occur  during
    upgrades from that point, or initial clean installs starting
    from 8.0.1.1  The release note supplied with version 8.0.1.1 and
    above contains additional information about how to avoid the
    problem during upgrade and should be read before starting such
    an upgrade.
    

Temporary fix

  • For problems occurring during upgrade users should uninstall,
    reboot and then install the new version rather than attempting
    the upgrade.
