The Operating System notifies plugin of a timeout on a read
when it receives a keepalive message from the application
server or when the serveriotimeout period expires. Plugin has
no way to determine which of these events has occurred so if
the socket was not a new socket and plugin had not received a
100-continue from the application server, plugin will assume
it was a keepalive message. After making this assumption,
plugin will close the socket and always open a new socket to
the same server and retry the request. This is problematic
because the assumption is not always valid when the response
is due to a serveriotimeout and prolongs the response to the
client.

Problem conclusion

Plugin will now retry to a new server unless the request has
affinity associated with it. If the timeout was due to a
keepalive or serveriotimeout and an old socket was used, the
socket will be closed and the request will be retried to a new
server unless the request had affinity and the server is still
available. If the server is still available, a new socket will
be opened and the request will be sent to the same server. The
server can be temporarily marked down by using a negative
serveriotimeout value in the plugin configuration.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.5, and 8.5.0.2.  Please refer to the
