Error description
When an ECI request with a 32767 byte COMMAREA is sent to an IPIC connected CICS server, return code -1 ECI_ERR_INVALID_DATA_LENGTH is received.
Local fix
Use 32766 byte COMMAREAs or IPIC channels and containers support.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of CICS Transaction Gateway and * * IPIC connected CICS servers. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ECI_ERR_INVALID_DATA_LENGTH is returned * * when a 32767 byte COMMAREA is flowed to * * an IPIC connected CICS server. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When sending ECI requests to IPIC connected CICS servers, CICS TG was incorrectly restricting the maximum COMMAREA length to 32766 bytes. The maximum usable size of a COMMAREA when using the IPIC protocol is 32767 bytes.
Problem conclusion
CICS TG has been changed to allow a maximum COMMAREA length of 32767 bytes to be flowed over IPIC connections. ECI requests specifying COMMAREAs longer than 32767 bytes will continue to receive ECI_ERR_INVALID_DATA_LENGTH. This change does not affect non-IPIC protocols.
