Error description

  • When a node is put into maintenance mode, the maintenance mode
    status is stuck in "In Progress" for ever.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a node is set into maintenance     *
    *                      mode, the status remains "in            *
    *                      progress".                              *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The node maintenance mode action first sets all the servers on
    the node into maintenance mode. After that, the node is set
    into maintenance mode. Before a server is set into maintenance
    mode, the application placement controller identifies a
    replacement for the server that is going into maintenance. If a
    problem occurs while setting a server into "maintenance mode",
    the node is not set back into "normal" state.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The node maintenance mode function was fixed to skip the
    communication with the application placement controller
    for servers that are stopped, for servers that belong to
    dynamic clusters that are in manual mode, and for servers that
    belong to static clusters. The error path was changed, so that
    the node is set back to "normal" state when the error occurs.
