Error description

  • You received a series of ASOD abends.
    .
Before CWXN task is attached by CSOL, the client has already
disconnected. CICS trace shows SOUS *EXC* GETSOCKNAME_FAILURE
    RETURN_VALUE(-1) RETURN_CODE(1124) REASON_CODE(749B0000).
In this siutation, the CWXN task will always abend ASOD.
The purpose of this apar is to prevent CWXN even being attached
in this case. That will pevent the majority of the ASOD abends.
    .
    The stack for this CWXN:
        DFHKETA
        DFHDSKE
        DFHXMTA
        ABEND_TRANSACTION
        DFHXMER
        DFHPGPG
        INITIAL_LINK
        DFHAPLI1
        CICS_INTERFACE
        DFHPCP
        DFHABAB
        TRANSACTION_DUMP_ROUTINE
        DFHDUDU
        TRANSACTION_DUMP
        TAKE_SYSTEM_DUMP
    .
Note that a window will still exist between CWXN being attached
and DFHSOXM being run during task initialization. If the client
disconnects in that gap then CWXN will continue to abend ASOD.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Transaction CWXN abends ASOD. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A client is sending a TCPIP request to CICS. Transaction CWXN
is used. Before CICS attaches CWXN, the TCPIP connection is
dropped and the client is disconnected. In the trace, a
GETSOCKNAME_FAILURE exception is issued. However CICS still
attaches transaction CWXN after it issues this exception. After
CWXN is attached, because the client is still disconnected,
CICS issues the GETSOCKNAME_FAILURE exception again and this
time it causes CWXN to abend ASOD.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS is changed so that before it attaches CWXN, it checks the
TCPIP connection to the client. If the connection is gone and
the client is disconnected, CICS will not attach CWXN.
