APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Currently WSIM only has the ability to read and write to QSAM
files via the ITPFIOX user exit. This change will allow users to
write their own file handling routine which can interface with
    WSIM scripts.

The FMASK facility was planned to be implemented some time ago
but due to issues with the code it was never implemented. This
change will remove that code because it is not being referenced
at all within the WSIM TM product,

Local fix

  • There is currently no workaround for the File I/O exit. The
FMASK code is unreferenced so there is no workaround needed.

    ****************************************************************
ITPFIOX is limited to handling QSAM files and only allowing
OPEN, READ, WRITE and CLOSE as options. This restricts what data
the customer can read in from or pass to WSIM. It also restricts
how WSIM can provide data for external use.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • A new User Exit program called ITPUIOX has been written. This
program is a skeleton program that has links into WSIM
information and storage areas. It also has places where a
customer can add in their own file handling routines to pass
data to or read data from an external file. While it has
essentially the same options as ITPFIOX - OPEN, READ, WRITE,
CLOSE - it has the potential for additional options to be coded
or for modifying these basic four options.
