Error description

  • Multiple TM1 sessions can be created for the same user in Cognos
    Express when users are executing reports against a common TM1
    data source in Reporter.  This will occur when multiple users
    have identical security membership (i.e., belong to the same
    group and roles) and these users are frequently executing
    reports against the same TM1 data source.  Under heavy load,
    these sessions may accumulate, which could lead to undesirable
    resource consumption (e.g., high memory usage).
    

Local fix

  • The number of active TM1 sessions can be reduced in the above sc
    enario by reducing the connectionExpirationThreshold parameter i
    n qfs_config.xml.  The qfs_config.xml file is contained in the f
    older: <installation>/configuration and the connectionExpiration
    Threshold parameter is measured in milliseconds with a default v
    alue of 300000, or 5 minutes:    <provider name="TM1OlapODP" lib
    raryName="tm1odp" connectionCode="TM">  ¬タᆭ  <connectionExpirati
    onThreshold value="300000"/>  ¬タᆭ  Reducing this value may resul
    t in performance degradation so it is only recommended to change
     it, if the resource usage caused by the TM1 sessions is causing
     issues.
