Problem summary

  • The short and medium date formats with Korean locale was not
following CLDR 2.1 standards. The JDK 5 and above releases
    followed the new standards.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    1.4.2 SR13 FP13
    .
The JVM is modified to provide the short and medium date
formats in CLDR 2.1 standards. Added a new system property
    "com.ibm.UseDotPattern" to enable this support.
By default, the older pattern will be returned. By enabling the
new system property, short and medium date in CLDR 2.1 format
    will be returned.
