Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: CICS IA 3.1 users who exploit the CICS IA *
    *                 Command Flow Data.                           *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS IA presents TCB switching process *
    * incorrectly for the Command Flow data. *
    *                      Columns TCBMODE, PREV_TCBMODE and       *
    *                      BEFORE_MODESWITCH of                    *
    *                      the CIU_CMDFLOW_DATA table currently    *
    * do not show all the TCB swaps that can *
    * happen. CICS IA can not detect all TCB *
    *                      swaps.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF and perform HOLD ACTION. *
    ****************************************************************
    To fix this, two columns were added to CIU_CMDFLOW_DATA table:
    TCB_SWITCH_BEFORE_COUNT The TCB mode switch count. The
                            value of this field is determined
                            before the start of the command
                            and is obtained from CICS
                            Monitoring Domain data.
    TCB_SWITCH_AFTER_COUNT The TCB mode switch count. The
                            value of this field is determined
                            after the completion of the
                            command and is obtained from
                            CICS Monitoring Domain data.
    Note:
    1.The TCB_SWITCH_BEFORE_COUNT and TCB_SWITCH_AFTER_COUNT fields
      represent the accumulated value of count for CICS
      Dispatcher change-TCB mode request issued from start user's
      task to moment of CICS Monitoring Domain statistics data
      enquiring.

    2.A value of -1 in these fields indicates that the TCB switch
      counter data is not available due to the CICS Monitoring
      Domain being deactivated during the command flow collection.
