  During Restore System log apply phase, after processing each
  Fast Log Apply (FLA) buffer for each object, data changes are
  externalized. Writing out data changes to DASD could take up to
  several seconds for each object depending on the number of pages
  to be written out. Also, at the end of Restore System, all the
  objects accessed during log apply phase are physically closed.
  Physical close could take up several minutes depending on number
  of objects involved in the recovery. To improve performance this
  APAR will avoid externalizing data pages at the end of every FLA
  buffer and avoid physically closing of all data sets until after
  the restore system is completed.
  

Problem conclusion

• Restore system  logic is modified to improve performance of log
  apply by deferring the physical close of objects after the
  restore system is completed.
