Error description

  • DWLM Controller is prematurely setting the weight to 0 for
    servers that are in 'inprogress' maintenance mode causing
    disruption of service when a node or an other middleware
    server is put into maintenance mode.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DWLM controller prematurely sets *
    * the weight to 0 for 'other middleware *
    * servers' in 'inprogress' maintenance *
    *                      mode.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The dynamic workload management (DWLM) controller does
    not recognize the'inprogress' maintenance mode state for
    members of 'other middleware server' dynamic clusters.
    Therefore the DWLM controller sets the weight to 0 for servers
    that are not yet completely in maintanenance mode. This
    behaviour causes service disruption because the application
    placement controller does not start a replacement server.

Problem conclusion

  • The issue is now resolved: the dynamic workload management
    (DWLM) controller recognizes the 'inprogress' maintenance mode
    state, and sets the member weight to 0 only after the servers
    are in maintenance mode. This fix will be included in the next
    WebSphere Virtual Enterprise fix pack.
