Error description

  • Getting a CM DGL5024A with a TSM 2041 and 136 code when running
CM on z/OS and using a TSM backend storage. This error is due
to the RM not single threading its TSM_Setup processing.

When multiple users attempted to access the CM z/OS resource
manager at the same time when the resource manager first came
up (i.e., multiple threads within a few milliseconds of one
another), the error would occur. This would cause multiple
threads to attempt a TSM set up operation when the resource
manager is first accessed. The TSM set up can only be
performed once when the resource manager is started.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix was made to the z/OS resource manager to ensure that
one (and only one) thread performs the TSM set up operation
when the resource manager is started.
