Error description

  • Virtual member manager (VMM) allows the same repository to be
    shared across different WebSphere Application Server instances.
    So VMM allows to share DB and LookSide/propertyExtension
    repository.

    When parallel create/update are being made from different server
    instances, VMM intermittently throws
    com.ibm.ws.wim.dao.oracle.OracleDAO createProperties(short
    schema, long
    mbrId, Hashtable[] attrs, Set multiValProps) SQL_EXCEPTION
    com.ibm.websphere.wim.exception.WIMSystemException: CWWIM4521E
    The
    ''{0}'' SQL Exception occurred during processing.

    com.ibm.ws.wim.dao.oracle.OracleDAO.createProperties(OracleDAO.j

    caused by : com.ibm.websphere.ce.cm.DuplicateKeyException:

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Update/create operations at high *
    * frequency from various WebSphere *
    *                      Application Server installations        *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    VMM was not able to synchronize calls coming from WebSphere
    Application Server installations who have a shared DB/LA
    repository among themselves.

Problem conclusion

  • A custom property needs to be set as generic JVM argument is
    -Dcom.ibm.ws.wim.registry.DbSharedAcrossMultipleServers=true

    Please follow this link that tells about how to set generic JVM
    arguments >>
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21417365

    For normal cases it's not mandatory. This JVM property is
    needed when VMM DB/LA repositories are shared across different
    installations. This's not for clustered environments.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.27, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2. Please refer to the
    Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
