Error description

• You have created a path diagram file in Amos 20.  You associate
  this file with your wide .csv or .xls data file.  In this
  example you had 173 variables but only 3 of them are utilized in
  the model.  You try to estimate your model and Amos puts up a
  windows saying it is scanning your data file.  this scanning
  never ends and the model is never estimated.
  

Local fix

• This issue has been addressed in Amos 21.0.
  
  If you can, make your data an SPSS Statistics system file
  (.sav).  Otherwise, restrict your data file to only those
  variables you are using in your model.
