  *                         when DB2 is acting as a requester    *
  *                         to a DB2 for LUW server.             *
  *                      2. Abend 04E-00D300F1 DSNLTST1+089A     *
  *                         may occur, typically after a         *
  *                         communication error condition is     *
  *                         detected with a remote server.       *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  Two independent problems are described:
  1. The DB2 9 for z/OS system, acting as requester, acquires
     storage to receive query reply data from a remote server,
     including the SQLCA for a fetched row.  The SQLCA
     information being returned is split across multiple DRDA
     objects.  In handling the split object, DB2 incorrectly
     accesses the acquired storage and DB2 abends the thread as
     reported.
  2. The DB2 9 for z/OS system, acting as a requester, sends an
     SQL request to a remote server however a communication error
     occurs.  Due to an uninitialized indicator, DB2 does not
     correctly set error information related to the failure and
     the absence of the error information causes the thread to
     abend as reported.
  The problems only occur after applying APAR PM45483
  (PTF UK73647).
  

Problem conclusion

• Two independent problems are corrected:
  1. DB2 9 for z/OS has been changed to access the acquired
     storage correctly.
  2. DB2 9 for z/OS has been changed to initialize the indicator.
