Error description
When LDAP group search is done with a filter like "*\\*", it doesn't yield any output even though corresponding LDAP objects exist in a LDAP sever. Note that this issue only happens when customers applied WebSphere Process Server(WPS) Fix Pack 7.0.0.4 which bundles WebSphere Application Server (WAS) iFix PM50399 which is different from the latest fix of PM50399.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After applying WPS v7 FixPack4, login * * failure may happen if user ID * * contains escaped characters. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When user ID contains some non Alphanumeric special characters such as comma character, these characters needs to be escaped by backslash character. PM50399 which is bundled in WPS FP4 contains a code which escapes these special characters improperly. As a result, user ID is altered incorrectly which introduce login failure due to incorrect user ID.
Problem conclusion
