Error description
Environment: WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment edition V7.0.0.13 Operating System - Windows 2008 Problem Description: Customer tried to install a fix pack using centralized installation manager (CIM) on the administrative console and received following exception with 500 error while browsing to the 'Installation History' panel: E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.ServletWrapper service SRVE0068E: Uncaught exception created in one of the service methods of the servlet action in application isclite. Exception created : java.lang.NullPointerException at com.ibm.ws.console.cim.installhistory.InstallHistoryController.s etupCollectionForm(InstallHistoryController.java:141) at com.ibm.ws.console.cim.installhistory.InstallHistoryController.p erform(InstallHistoryController.java:385) at org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesRequestProcessor.processTilesDefini tion(Unknown Source) at org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesRequestProcessor.processForwardConf ig(Unkno The above exception should be avoided so that customer can successfully view the CIM install history even if they have tried to install a package with incorrect format.

When trying to install this interim fix via Centralized Installation Manager, the installation fails, hwever the installation record is corrupted. Later when try to view the installation history, Null Pointer Exception will happen and the page cannot be displayed correctly.
Problem conclusion
Centralized Installation Manager will check and find corrupted installation record, and avoid Null Pointer Exception when viewing the record in Installation History page. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.23 and 8.0.0.4.
