Local fix
Problem summary
z/OS Java uses the IBM z/OS C library for I/O to MVS datasets. The performance is significantly (3-4X) worse in terms of CPU time than native COBOL or Assembler.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.1 SR1 (z/OS 31-bit) . Implemented new JZOS APIs in the form of two public classes, com.ibm.jzos.RecordReader and com.ibm.jzos.RecordWriter that support sequential record I/O to non-VSAM MVS datasets. Sequential dataset I/O performance from Java should be on par with COBOL and/or Assembler.
