Error description

  • At INITIAL/COLD start CICS region runs without error but at next
    AUTO start some resources are missing and depending of the
    these resources various abend or messages received.

    Starting with DFHLIST many transactions are missing, CADP to
    CEBR, CEMT... and next start abend with U1800.

    Problem occured only on some partitions even if all partitions
    are at same level.

    Resources put in GCD are not in SEQ order in list. There are in
    SEQ order in group. An RPLFDBK 1208000C is received when key is
    not in sequentiel order (at first resource of next group) and
    buffer is lost with last resource, generally transactions.

    CICS traces don't show error. Only VSAM Record Management trace
    with following parameter in DFHGCD DD show this RPLFDBK
    AMP=('TRACE=(PARM1=F00001801800,HOOK=(1,5,15,16)')

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a COLD start of CICS is *
    * performed, resources are found to be *
    * missing from the Global Catalog. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a COLD start of CICS is performed VSAM issues a '1208000C'X
    error. This is the result of an attempted sequential write
    which has failed as the key passed is lower than that of the
    previous write. As a result of this, updates currently held in
    a VSAM buffer maybe lost and not written to the GCD.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHCCCC has been modified so that whenever VSAM issues an '0C'X
    (VPLSEQER) error code, ENDREQ is called. This causes all
    unwritten data to be flushed by the string and cancels the VSAM
    positioning on the dataset for the RPL.
