PM50668: AFTER UPGRADING CLEARCASE, THE EVERYONE GROUP IS REMOVED FROM THE CACHE FOLDER

Error description

  • After you upgrade IBM Rational ClearCase using IBM Installation
    Manager, you may have severe performance issues.
    
    You may also receive the following error when trying to perform
    ClearCase operations:
    
    C:\Users\user1?cleartool desc vob:\Sample-Doc cleartool:

    It has been determined that this is caused by the Everyone group
    being removed from the ?installation
    directory?\ClearCase\var\cache directory
    
    Prior to the upgrade, the access control list will show the

    WORKAROUND:  Once you add the everyone group back to the access
    control list with the correct permission, the issue is resolved.

    On ClearCase 8.0.0.5 installs, the cache folder was not
    being added the everyone group, causing performance impact
    and erros on the Albd service.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Implemented a function to setup correctly the folders and
    their permissions on ClearCase installs.
