Error description
When using FM/DB2 to view the SYSCOLUMNS catalog table, and a view has been defined for this table via a FM sample job (for example, FMN2GV28), receive message: FM/DB2 could not access column CCSID in DB2 catalog table hlq.SYSCOLUMNS
Local fix
Drop the view for SYSCOLUMNS, modify the SQL to include the CCSID column, then recreate the view and grant SELECT as appropriate.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of File Manager DB2 component. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. When using the FM/DB2 object list * * utility to display a list of columns, * * receive message "FM/DB2 could not * * access column CCSID in DB2 catalog * * table SYSCOLUMNS". A similar problem * * occurs attempting to edit any DB2 * * object. * * 2. The documentation in sample part * * FMN2CGEN, which can be used to create a * * table space in the DB2 TEMP database, * * does not make it clear that the job is * * only applicable to DB2 version 8 * * systems. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** 1. This problem only occurs when using the minimal subset views of the DB2 catalog tables, as defined in the following members in SFMNSAM1: FMN2GV28, FMN2GV29. 2. TEMP databases are replaced by WORKFILE databases at DB2 V9 (and later). A WORKFILE database is defined as part of normal DB2 installation, so the processing defined in FMN2CGEN is not required at DB2 V9 or later.
Problem conclusion
File Manager DB2 has been changed to correct the problems: 1. The view definitions in parts FMN2GV28, FMN2GV29 have been updated to include column CCSID in the view on SYSIBM.SYSCOLUMNS. 2. Sample part FMN2CGEN has been updated to make it clear that the job is applicable only when connected to DB2 version 8 systems.
