PM49657: INVALID LIBJ9A2E.SO DLL INCLUDED IN /LIB/S390X DIRECTORY CAN CAUSE ABENDS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An incorrect version of the DLL "libj9a2e.so" exists in the
  /lib/s390x directory for the z/OS 64-bit Java SE 7 product.
    If LIBPATH is defined with /lib/s390x ahead of directories
  where valid copies of the dll  exist, programs could encounter
  the abend
  CEE3561S External function atoe_statvfs was not found in DLL
  libj9a2e.so
  This failure was encountered when executing the JzOS JCL batch
  sample JVMJCL70 found in the /mvstools/samples/jcl directory.
  Applications invoked similar to the JZOS sample could encounter
  this error if the application uses the "atoe_statvfs" function
  and has a similar LIBPATH ordering.
   The correct "libj9a2e.so" DLL is available in the following
  paths:
  <JAVA_HOME>/bin/classic
  <JAVA_HOME>/bin/j9vm
  <JAVA_HOME>/lib/s390x/classic
  <JAVA_HOME>/lib/s390x/default
  <JAVA_HOME>/lib/s390x/j9vm
  <JAVA_HOME>/lib/s390x/compressedrefs
  

Local fix

• delete the libj9a2e.so dll from the /lib/s390x directory,
  or
  reorder LIBPATH to include one of the valid directory
  entries listed in the APAR description ahead of the /lib/s390x
  entry.
  

Problem summary

• An older version of libj9a2e.so is incorrectly copied to
  /lib/s390x directory.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  7.0.0 SR1
  
  The JVM has been updated to remove the incorrect libj9a2e.so.
