Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of File Manager's online functions. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. The following diagnostics are issued * * in TSO line mode prior to the display * * of the File Manager Messages pop-up * * (FMNPMSGS). * * ISPCMG 'RC=12' * * CMG999 Message FMNZ001 * * FMNZ001 Message not found in 'ISPMLIB' * * library. * * The diagnostics are issued when the * * ISPF Productivity Tool's (IPT) tracing * * facility is enabled. * * 2. Needless display of the File Manager * * Messages pop-up in the FM/IMS Edit * * dialog just prior to the first display * * of the Database Positioning panel. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** 1. The diagnostics are issued because File Manager attempts to issue a message that does not exist. 2. The File Manager Messages pop-up is displayed when two or more SETMSG requests are made without a panel display between them. This is as it should be, but the pop-up can be an annoyance when one or more of the messages are not informative. This is the case when the pop-up is displayed in the Edit dialog just prior to the display of the Database Positioning panel. Two messages appear in the pop-up but one of them - FMNIA127 'Chkpt FM000001 taken' is almost always issued and doesn't provide the user with much useful information.
Problem conclusion
FM/IMS has been modified to: 1. not attempt to issue the nonexistent message. 2. suppress the first checkpoint message (FMNIA127) when it being issued results in the display of the Messages pop-up.
