APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using FM/CICS to edit a CICS file and 'lock resource' is
  selected, an update under CECI is made to the same file.  When
  the update from FM/CICS is saved, the update made from CECI
  is lost.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When multiple transactions are updating *
  *                      records, File Manager record integrity  *
  *                      checking was not detecting update       *
  *                      collisions and was updating records     *
  *                      without warning that they had been      *
  *                      updated by another user.                *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  File Manager was not reading a record for update during the
  integrity checking procedure resulting in a failure to warn of
  a record having been updated by another user before performing
  the File Manager update.
  

Problem conclusion

• File Manager has been updated in order to read the intended
  record to be updated, with update intent, in order to correctly
  synchronise with other updates, before performing the integrity
  check, allowing update collision detection to work as intended.
