APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There is a storage leak in FM/CICS when program FMN3CICS invokes
FMN3INQ and returns.
The reason appears to be the same as APAR OW07483 (compltely
unrelated product but same problem) in which it describes
problem with epilog macro DFHEIPLR.  FM also uses this macro.

Local fix

  • Circumvention to avoid below the line storage being allocated
would be to change the TASKDATALOC paramter from BELOW to ANY
(see FMN3INST in hlq.SFMNSAM1)

File Manager was using DFHEIPLR to free the program storage
for the inquiry programs. The DFHEIPLR was not freeing the
storage which leads to a storage creep for large inquiries.

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager has been changed to ensure all called programs
free the storage they acquired on exit.
