APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • User is able to view a DB2 table using FM/DB2 View option.
However, trying to unload the same table using option 3.9 (DB2
Utilities), the batch job fails.

IBM UNLOAD utility doesn't support UNLOAD from a view. It must
be a table name in the FROM TABLE specification.

The DB2 LOAD/UNLOAD utilities apply only to table objects - not
views, synonyms or aliases.  When a DB2 object selection list is
used within the FM/DB2 "DB2 utilities" function all DB2 objects
defined in SYSIBM.SYSTABLES are displayed, as well as any
applicable synonyms, allowing DB2 objects other than tables to
be selected.  When the generated DB2 utility job (LOAD/UNLOAD)
is executed it fails because of the incorrect DB2 object type.

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager DB2 component has been modified to only show DB2
table objects when preparing DB2 LOAD or UNLOAD utility jobs.
