Error description

  • When attempting to edit a VSAM file with alternate indices, the
    client received this error message:
    
       This function requires CICS files with alternate indexes
       to be defined with the ADD and DELETE attributes.
    
    Changing the attributes open the files to be deleted by users.
    This will compromise the client's security environment should
    those attributes be required to be changed.

Problem summary

    *                      required would be generated for CICS    *
    *                      KSDS with an alternate index, without   *
    *                      ADD and DEL ability.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    File Manager was not allowing any edit of a CICS KSDS if it had
    one or more associated alternate indexes and the ADD and DEL
    operations were not permitted.
    

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager has been updated to allow an inplace edit of a CICS
    KSDS with alternate indexes, when ADD and DEL are not permitted.
