APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the following are true:
  1) Authoring template forces a workflow selection from a
  specified list
  2) Authoring template's workflow user interface is a dropdown
  list (or dropdown list is chosen by the automatic selection)
  
  Then the following error occurs:
  When an administrator changes the inheritance options on a
  published content and then saves the content (in the authoring
  portlet), the inheritance changes will not be saved. The changes
  will be replaced with the inheritance options of the workflow
  stage the content is currently in.
  

Local fix

• Change the user interface for the authoring template's workflow
  to:
  Paging Table (recommended for large quantities of choices).
  
  The error can be avoided by changing this setting.
  

Problem summary

• Administrators are unable to set custom inheritance options on
  some content.
  
  When the following are true:
  1) Authoring template forces a workflow selection from a
  specified list
  2) Authoring template's workflow user interface is a dropdown
  list (or dropdown list is chosen by the automatic selection)
  
  Then the following error occurs:
  When an administrator changes the inheritance options on a
  published content and then saves the content (in the authoring
  portlet), the inheritance changes will not be saved. The
  changes
  will be replaced with the inheritance options of the workflow
  stage the content is currently in.
  

Problem conclusion

• The save operation on was setting the workflow on the content,
  even when the workflow was unchanged. This was reverting the
  inheritance options.
