Error description

  • You work with SPSS Statistics 18.0 to IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0
    on a Distributed
File System and would like to open files with File - Open - Data
menu directly but you are unable to do so.

For example your Active Directory and the Distributed File
System is on a Windows 2003 Server SP2 and the DFS is built up
    like this:

    default target: \\servername\DFS_sharename
    target 1: - folder_1 \\servername\folder_1
    target 2: - folder_2 \\servername\folder_2

When logging on to Windows, the default target is mapped
    automatically with drive letter T:\.
Now after starting IBM Statistics you go to -> File -> Open ->
Data. You can see the folder_1 and folder_2 under drive T:\,
but opening theses folders doesn't work. So you cannot access
files and subfolders that are stored here.

This was reported to Development. However, since the issue
is caused by a third party component IBM SPSS Development cannot
verify in which IBM SPSS Statistics release the problem can be
    resolved.

    Workarounds:
When using UNC-paths \\servername\folder_1 or a new mapped
network drive under a different drive letter, folder_1 and its
subfolders can be opened and SAV-files can be opened via the
    File -> Open-Menu.
Another workaround would be to open the DFS-drive T:\ in Windows
Explorer and and go to the folder containing your SAV-file. This
can then be opened in IBM Statistics with a double click.
