Error description

  • VSAM apar OA36895 implements new JRNAD exits for CA Reclaim.
This apar adds IMS support for the new JRNAD exits for
Serviceability purposes. The info in the new exists passed
from VSAM to IMS will be saved in IMS DLI trace entries
to help with diagnosis of CA Reclaim problems.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users need information to diagnose *
    * problems stemmed from the CA Reclaim *
    *                      function introduced in z/OS 1.12.       *

    ****************************************************************
When the CA Reclaim function is enabled, 7 JRNAD exit routines
are provided to record its progress and activities. VSAM takes
a JRNAD exit each time CA Reclaim is started, ended, or
interrupted. JRNAD exits are also taken when CA Reclaim
recovers after it was interrupted, and when a reclaimed CA is
    reused.

This is an IMS serviceability apar that saves CA Reclaim JRNAD
exits in the diagnostic X'67FA' log records type X'DA'.
Some of the information saved in the log record are:
    - low and high CI numbers of CA Reclaim start and end
    - low and high CI numbers of CA Reclaim recovery start and end
    - low and high CI numbers of CA Reclaim reuse start and end
    - reclaim count
    - RPLFDBK reason for reclaim interruption

Modules DFSDVSM0 and IDLIVSAM have been changed to write
diagnostic info provided by the 7 new CA Reclaim JRNAD exits
into the X'67FA' log record type X'DA'.

Application of this maintenance REQUIRES DFSMS apar OA40974
in order to record CA Reclaim JRNAD exits in the IMS
X'67FA' diagnostic log record type X'DA' entries.

If CA Reclaim is not enabled, this maintenance can be applied
    without DFSMS apar OA40974.

    ===================
IMS V12 Diagnostic manual needs to be updated.
Under section DL/I trace formats, X'DA' trace entry, add
the following in Table 1, after JRNAD 50, before UPAD 00:

JRNAD 54 Control area reclaim start
JRNAD 58 Control area reclaim end
JRNAD 5C Control area reclaim interrupted
JRNAD 60 Control area reclaim recovery start
JRNAD 64 Control area reclaim recovery end
JRNAD 68 Start of reuse reclaimed control area
JRNAD 6C End of reuse reclaimed control area
