PM38332: WHEN RUNNING FM/IMS BATCH FUNCTION DIB (INITIALIZE), RECEIVE U0044 ABEND.

Error description

• Receive U0044 abend when running FM/IMS DIB (Initialize)
  function and IMS subsystem is set up with DBRC=FORCE.

Problem summary

  *                 are attempting to initialize a full-function *
  *                 database.                                    *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The job step that inserts a dummy       *
  *                      segment issues msgDFS044I 'DBRC         *
  *                      REQUIRED FOR THIS EXECUTION' and        *
  *                      terminates abnormally with IMS          *
  *                      abendu0044.                             *
  *                      The problem occurs when DBRC=FORCE is   *
  *                      specified in the IMS installation       *
  *                      defaults module DFSIDEF0.               *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  The job steps that insert and delete a dummy segment execute
  with DBRC=N irrespective of the value specified for the DBRC
  parameter in the FM/IMS installations options module or the job
  steps.
  

Problem conclusion

• The above mentioned job steps have been modified to use the DBRC
  value specified in either the job step (when it is specified
  there) or the FM/IMS installation options module (otherwise).
  When these job steps execute with DBRC=Y, the job step that
  deletes the dummy segment may issue msgDFS047A 'UNABLE TO OBTAIN
  AUTHORIZATION FOR DATA BASE xxxxxxxx. REASON CODE = 05.' and
  terminate abnormally with IMS abendu0047. This abend occurs
  if DBRC enforces the requirement of taking an image copy of the
  database after it has been loaded. If this requirement is
  enforced, an additional job step that resets the image copy
  status of the database data sets is required after the step that
  inserts a dummy segment and before the step that deletes the
  dummy segment.
  The FM/IMS Initialize dialog has been modified to generate this
  additional step when it may be required.
