APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Admin ConfigService does not give good diagnostic information
    with a malformed configuration object name, which
    makes hard to diagnose such problem.

Local fix

  • Inspect the resource.xml file to make sure there are not invalid
    characters in resource name. For examples resource cannot have
     name='zyz\n10'
    where '\n' is a invalid character. Remove such invalid
    characters in resource.xml.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When Admin ConfigService gets a malformed configuration object
    name, it does not provide good diagnostic information, which
    makes hard to diagnose such problem, specially in a
    complicated scenario.

Problem conclusion

  • Added better diagnostic information in the Admin ConfigService
    implementation to help diagnose problems with a malformed
    configuration object name, mainly by showing a
    MalfomredObjectNameException caught in a diagnostic trace.

    APAR PM37639 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.17 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
