• Backup NifStack.xml and NifHistory.xml files before update

  Corruption in NIFStack.xml and NIFhistory.xml causes a lot of
  manual work to repair files and most of the time leads to an
  uninstall and install of the product. Update installer (UPDI)
  should back up NIFStack and NIFhistory before modifying them so
  that you can have good copy for you and support to work on if
  there are issues. This will help prevent the need to uninstall
  and install the product.
  

Problem conclusion

• UPDI will simply copy the NIFStack.xml and NIFHistory.xml files
  to the backup folder before UPDI actually starts the upgrade.
  Timestampe will be part of file/folder names. The files will
  not be removed automatically. If necessary support can then
  manually repair these files on a customer environment based on
  the content from backup files.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 7.0.0.19.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
