Error description

  • When using the DEF command from FM option 3.4 to define a
    dataset, and a tape dataset name is specified in the 'Data
    set name' field, user's TSO session hangs.
    

Local fix

  • Avoid specifying a tape dataset name in the data set name field
    when the DEF command is issued.

    The return code is being incorrectly reset when a tape has been
    supplied as the model for the DEF command.
    

Problem conclusion

  • When a tape data set is supplied as input to the Catalog
    Services DEF command the error message 'Model unavailable' will
    be displayed and the define process terminated.
