APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The PVTS control block pool for the private 64bit object,
  is depleted, reaching the 1G storage limit. When this occurs,
  storage manager is unable to allocate any more new 64bit private
  storage. The PVTS blocks are for DSNSGETM requests, issued by
  DSNB5COM to get 4K log buffers.

  The DASD write logic failed to release memory allocated
  for log records. The memory leak causes storage manager to
  abend and bring DB2 down.
  

Problem conclusion

• The DASD write logic has been modified to release memory for
  log records after IO completes.
