APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a column is defined as GENERATED ALWAYS, the user cannot
edit and add a new row because FM/DB2 build SQL INSERT
statement with data in the fields that are defined GENERATED
ALWAYS. DB2 does not accept this.

Local fix

  • To bypass the trouble and depending on the amount of data you
have to put in a row, you can the use a SQL INSERT with the
    'default' parm. For example:

Under File Manager/DB2, choose option 4 (SQL) then 3 (Enter).

Enter: INSERT INTO tablename VALUES(n, n, 'xxx', default)

When you get the message "INSERT executed successfully", hit
PF3 otherwise you will add a new line with the same data.
