Error description
The following WSim changes are being rolled out to TPNS: APAR/PTF - PK83102 UK45481 THIS CHANGE GENERATES CONSOLE MESSAGE ITP170I WHEN THE MAXCALL SETTING IS EXCEEDED. ITP170I WILL BE ISSUES ONCE PER SIMULATED RESOURCE, WHILE THE EQUIVALENT INFORMATION MESSAGE WILL BE LOGGED FOR EACH OCCURANCE. APAR/PTF - PK94074 UK49562 This problem only occurred when the testcase name started with #. When a schedule was built and reviewed the process would double check to see if any msgtxts had been deleted or added in the test case. During this process any testcase starting with # was ignored. The result was the process then decided the msgtxt had been deleted and so did not include the testcase in the schedule build. APAR/PTF - PK83167 UK45481 WSIM CURRENTLY LISTS ONLY THE NETWORK UTI VALUE WHEN EMTRATE= IS ACTIVE IN THE INTERVAL REPORT. THIS IS USEFUL, AS THE UTI VALUE ISAUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED BY THE EMTRATE= CODE. HOWEVER, ALL THE UTI VALUES ARE AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED BY THE EMTRATE=CODE, BUT THE USERS DO NOT SEE THESE VALUES IN THE INTERVAL REPORTS. THIS CHANGE LISTS ALL THE UTI VALUES WHEN EMTRATE= IS ACTIVE. APAR/PTF - PM20991 UK61058 Currently if the writing out to the log dataset is slower than the creation of log records the buffer will fill and further log processing will cease until such time as the buffer is emptied. This is flagged in the process by the issuing of the ITP030I message. For performance testing this was not an issue as performance took priority over record keeping but for application testing this is not always the case.

This problem only occurred when the testcase name started with #. When a schedule was built and reviewed the process would double check to see if any msgtxts had been deleted or added in the test case. During this process any testcase starting with # was ignored. The result was the process then decided the msgtxt had been deleted and so did not include the testcase in the schedule build. TPNS currently lists only the network UTI value when EMTRATE= is active in the interval report. This is useful, as the UTI value is automatically adjusted by the EMTRATE= code. However, all the UTI values are automatically adjusted by the EMTRATE= code, but the users do not see these values in the interval reports. For log processing to include all required records the log buffer has to be capable of being expanded while maintaining data integrity. It also needs to be up to the user as to when this expandability is needed, to what degree and how fast it is activated. +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes. Problem conclusion
This change generates console message ITP170I when the MAXCALL setting is exceeded. ITP170I will be issued once per simulated resource, while the equivalent information message will be logged for each occurrence. The REXX exec ITMDCAM had an invalid test for a # prefix which has now been removed. It is recommended that before installing this fix any existing testcases prefixed with # should be deleted in TPNS test manager and then this fix installed and the # prefixed testcases rebuilt. If this isn't done it will not affect the system however you will see a duplication of # prefixed names for a time. Added code to list all the UTI values when EMTRATE= is active in the interval reports. To allow for the handling of an expandable log buffer a new parameter is added, the values of which will determine if the log is to be expanded and if it is to what extent. The setting of this parameter is then checked when the log buffer becomes full and the appropriate action is taken depending on the setting of the parameter. * Cross Reference between External and Internal Names SPA_NAME (IDSS_NAM)
