Error description

  • You are collecting affinity data for TS queues and find that
    excessive data collection is occurring as no filtering of TSQ
    names is supported as it is for dependency data collection.
    This can affect overall CICS IA collector performance and can
    also increase the size of the CICS IA dataspace.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of CICS IA version 3.1 *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Many TS queues with similar names might *
    *                      exist for a given application.          *
    * Often some part of the name indicates *
    * the application and the rest is a *
    * terminal id, a user name, or some other *
    *                      variable.                               *
    * If CICS IA collects affinity data for *
    * all of these TS queues it can create a *
    * large number of affinity records, which *
    * will be reflected in the size of the *
    * CICS IA VSAM files and DB2 tables. *
    * It might also complicate analysis of *
    *                      the data.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When collecting CICS IA affinity data, you may wish to treat
    some group of TS queues that belong to the same application
    and which have similar generic names as a single TS queue
    for collection purposes.
    You can do so with this fix applied, by specifying the
    generic part of the name in the Resource Prefix List table
    (CIUPFXTB).

    This fix extends the use of the Resource Prefix List table
    (CIUPFXTB) to allow the collection of information about
    TS queues in a single record.

    Problem conclusion

    The use of the Resource Prefix List table (CIUPFXTB) is extended
    to allow the collection of information for TS queues in a single
    record.
