PM24470: -DIBM.CL.VERBOSE=* DOES NOT GENERATE CLASS TRACE ENTRIES IN SOME ENVIRONMENTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• -Dibm.cl.verbose=* will not generate verbose class tracing
  information when set in a WebSphere environment. It also
  will not generate output when java is invoked via jzos in a
  batch job.
   However, it will generate output as expected if java is
  invoked from the omvs command line or if launched via a jni
  call
  

Local fix

• Use a selection string other than '*' alone, if possible.
  Example :  -Dibm.cl.verbose=H*
  

Problem summary

• The Prinstream was assigned to the System.out when the
  diagnostics helper class is loaded and not modified even when
  the PrinStream is redirected
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  5.0.0 SR12 FP5
  .
  Modified the JDK to redirect the PrintStream in accordance with
  System.out
  .
  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20101225 or later
